I’m a pretty big music fan, many different types, so thought I’d share the three best tracks, in my opinion, from last year. The videos attached are pretty good too, and that factored into the songs I put up here.
First one is Alt J, a British band that didn’t release anything up here until September of this year. Still don’t know where they came from. This is not perhaps their most well-known song, but it is the one I like the best. Some of the sounds are off-scale unique.
Next one is Lindsey Stirling’s Crystallize. Likely most people have heard this one, she is getting pretty big. Combining violin with dubstep is a bit strange but worked perfectly. The video adds a pretty interesting visual element and some dance, too. True art.
But best song of the year for me has got to be Skrillex’s Bangarang. I don’t know if it’s dubstep or brostep or whatever. I know people are offended by the very existence and popularity of this song because it smacks around the dubstep purists. But whatever. It’s great.
These were great–had to share the first one–thank you!
Trent 2 out of 3 isn’t bad unfortunately not your favorite. Can’t do the gig. But Ialways love being tuned into new music. I have proably 500 cds and about 1000GB of music on itunes I ‘ve downloaded–I don’t have any Russian music though. Thank, great posting. You never got back to me about the poem. What’s up with that–nostalgic for furniture? I couldn’t believe you thought that!>KB
I also bought the first 2 cds
What a wonderful way to start the day with a music I have never heard before! Well, except for the Lindsey Stirling’s Crystallize. The first one did put me in that thoughtful mood when one just goes on finding and listening to something similar for quite a while. The second one – known but absolutely enjoyed a lot again. And then there was the third one…fun!
Glad you liked them. Was a good year for music.
I am right there with you with Skrillex and Lindsey Stirling– awesome!
Check out Metric’s new one if you like those. Good Canadiana.
yup. We have the same taste in music sir!
Cool. I often think I could live in some musical state. I don’t know how to play anything but I love honouring good tunes. There are so so so many of them these days, I think it’s a golden age to be honest.
synthetica– LOVE IT
Here in the great white north, we bow before the temple of Emily Haines, our native rock goddess.
first one, so sad yet almost content feel…had to listen to it twice to understand his words..lol second one, just beautiful, love the ice sculptures. third one too funny. guess that’s how bad guys are made, never enough ice cream! think I’ll go check out Alt J again, really interesting stuff.
Yah, Alt J is just exploding these days. As for Skrillex… I think I’m due to roll an ice cream truck. It’s inevitable. But I might wait till summer, cause it’s hard to find an ice cream truck right now.
