Happy to say that I’ve placed in Grain Literary Magazine’s Short Grain Contest. For me, this is a huge honour. Grain is a legendary magazine in my mind.
The story is called Titan Arum. The name refers to something called the corpse flower. By all means, consider buying the issue or subscribing to Grain to read this and many other pieces.
The fiction judge had a really interesting quote about the story: “loose and light-footed, moving with an agility that reminds me of Mikhail Bulgakov or Richard Van Camp.”
That, there, is incredibly high praise.
Awesome! Congrats.
Thank you, Matticus. This one feels surreal, and a big bigger than I’m used to. But cool.
Wow! Fantastic, Trent! And high praise indeed!
I’m kind of… stunned.
Happy stunned, I hope!
Sweet! Good job!
Oy mate! Good to hear from you. And thank you!
You’re welcome!
Congratulations!
Thank you!
