A Story for a Season

Can’t remember why I wrote this story, called ‘Toronto Rain’. It’s not like it happened to me, or that I’m in any way similar to either of the main characters.

Those main characters have never met. They may never meet. One doesn’t even know the other exists.

I think I find the story interesting because I’m not sure if the one character is innocent or guilty. I’m not sure that it matters. What matters is that an anonymous person in another part of the world is trying to help him, from a tiny space in a wet city.

Have a read if you have a moment. It’s less than 1,500 words, an anomaly for me, but it covers a lot of ground. It’s been published in DarkWinter Literary Magazine. You can read it for free.

  1. As I was reading your story, I was listening to the CBC. Kara Kemir by the Kronos Quartet was playing and it just added something to this wonderful story.

  2. Firstly, congratulations on having this published to share with the world. You transported me to Toronto and the tunnel life. I could feel the rain as it hit my skin. At the same time I felt like these characters were right here in my room and I was able to watch them. It is a sadly beautiful piece, Trent. I will read it again and have shared it on https://www.threads.net/ as I still haven’t found you there.
